Giant Treasure Chest

Giant Treasure Chest

Our Giant Treasure Chest is a composite geode, made up of numerous quartz crystals. Weighing seven tonnes, it’s a stunning natural masterpiece framed by an arch of star jasmine.

See, touch and smell

A giant geode over 120 million years old from South America, like all of our large geodes, our Giant Treasure Chest offers a world-unique experience.

Not only can you see and touch this exquisite crystal, you’ll also be immersed in the exquisite fragrance of star jasmine in bloom, framing it in an arch.

The top of the geode serves as a lid, adding to the sense of mystery and wonder.

What’s inside?

A composite geode made up of many different crystals, you’ll discover that the inside of the Giant Treasure Chest features a mix of green amethyst, smoky quartz, lavender amethyst, and large calcite ‘teeth’.

On the outside?

The Giant Treasure Chest is egg-shaped, with a unique blend of natural textures and colours.

The exterior is adorned with polished jasper, known for its rich, earthy hues and patterns. Across its surface, the geode is also framed by black rock, specifically basalt, which provides a striking contrast to the vibrant jasper.

This combination highlights the geode’s natural beauty, creating a visually captivating and textured surface.

Geode formation

Like all the geodes at Crystal Castle, The Treasure Chest was formed when small gas bubbles within solidified magma from an ancient volcano filled with hot water through hydrothermal alteration. As the water cooled, it deposited various minerals and created the crystals inside the geode.
