Fountain of Peace

Fountain of Peace

The extraordinary water foundation at the centre of Crystal Castle’s courtyard is a perfect sphere of polished rose quartz crystal that weighs 310 kilograms and rotates in a mere 0.3 millimetres of water.

Brazilian quartz, German engineering

A beloved attraction, the extraordinary Peace Fountain was expertly crafted by specialist fountain makers in Germany. Featuring rose quartz sourced from Brazil and granite from Switzerland, this stunning masterpiece was installed in 2008 and has captivated the hearts of Crystal Castle visitors ever since.

A flawless sphere

Polished into a flawless sphere, the 310-kilogram semi-precious stone appears to defy gravity as it effortlessly rotates on just 0.3 millimetres of water. The tranquil sound of flowing water enhances its mesmerising beauty, captivating all who behold it.

The heart of Crystal Castle

We call this the heart of the Crystal Castle because the fountain is located at a powerful convergence of ley lines, or global energy lines, in the Byron Bay region. Mystic lore holds that rose quartz radiates love and compassion, making this marvel of engineering the spinning, luminous heart of the Crystal Castle.

The Journey to Shangri-La

The Courtyard mural, entitled The Journey to Shangri-La, is a stunning artwork blending sacred Buddhist spaces with the natural beauty of the local environment. Created by local artist Peta Laurison, the mural has been painted in the trompe l’oeil style, a French term meaning ‘trick of the eye,’ which creates a captivating illusion of depth and realism.
