Wisdom from the Readers, Margot

Tuesday 26 October 2010

This month we feature an article by resident Crystal Castle reader Margot. Margot has been reading tarot in Australia, the USA and Mexico for over 15 years. Margot is known and respected for her caring, grounded and honest readings. She has clients locally, interstate and overseas who seek her counsel to support them with making decisions or to confirm their own intuitions on any matter.

The Fool

Often when we observe people in our lives who seem to take risks which at first seem irrational to us, we later marvel when their apparently ‘foolhardy’ choices actually work out or take them into new and exciting life directions. The Fool in The Tarot represents this instinctive trust in life and the courage which allows us to move out of stuck situations, to embrace the new and to have faith in our own inner resources and intuitions. We see this sense of wonder, adventure and spontaneity in children. The Fool card reminds us that although there can be no guaranteed outcomes in life, that life is essentially a fearless, creative journey and that the best rewards often come when we are able to walk into the unknown. Reflect on a time in your life when you were frightened of risk or change but instinctively you knew that it was right and like the Fool, you walked the path on the edge of the precipice and arrived at a much happier and more rewarding place in your life.

Margot is available for readings on Saturdays, please book ahead to avoid disappointment.

Astro Report from Varij, October

Monday 25 October 2010

Venus Goes Retrograde is the planetary headline event for October and November.

Venus, the planet of love, beauty and relationship, appears to go into reverse motion for about 40 days every 18 months or so. This year it goes retrograde from October 8 to Nov 19 in the signs Scorpio and Libra.

For all of us Venus retrograde is the ideal time to review what’s working and what’s not in our major relationships and to reassess whether they are truly fulfilling us. Here are some key questions to assist that review process:

Are your relationships in alignment with your deepest values? And indeed, what are those values? Romance, passion, security, lifestyle, mutual support, mutual respect, non-violent communication, loving-kindness, spiritual growth, or conscious parenting?

Is there a balance between giving and receiving? Is there a fair exchange of time and energy? Are you getting what you need and deserve?

And perhaps the most fundamental question of all, what is love to me? Here are some of my favourite ‘answers’ to that perennially fascinating question.

Love is the wisdom of the fool and the folly of the wise

Love is letting go of fear

Love is not so much looking into each other’s eyes as looking in the same direction

Finally, it would be hard to disagree with these wise words from the poet Rainer Maria Rilke: “For one human being to love another is perhaps the most difficult of all our tasks, the ultimate, the last test and proof, the work for which all other work is but preparation.”

Astrology report from Crystal Castle resident reader and Astrologer Varij. Varij is a former tutor in Philosophy at Melbourne University and a writer for Wellbeing Astrology Magazine. A professional reader of over 25 years experience, he combines compassion and wisdom with a gifted intuition to deliver clear, positive and accurate guidance. Varij has been with the Crystal Castle for seven years and is available for readings on Tuesday's and Wednesday's.

Through The Eyes of... Julie

Monday 25 October 2010

Q. Name, nickname and tell us briefly about yourself?

My name is Julie and I moved here from Brisbane twelve years ago. I had a very good friend living in Byron Bay, who has now become the Byron Bay citizen of the year! I was looking for a sea change and it turned out to be a hinterland and sea change - Which is really beautiful.

Q. What do you love about working here and how long have you been on the Castle team?

One customer moment that really touched me was when a lady was visiting us and unfortunately her son had just passed away. She really wanted the prayer flags that we had hanging up on display. These flags definitely represented something special for her and she had particularly wanted them. So in the end I decided to give them to her as a gift from the Crystal Castle. The woman was very thankful and it turned out being a special and memorable moment.

Q. What is your favourite dish from the Lotus Cafe?

I really like the pumpkin and chicken salad.

Q. Do you have a favourite statue and why?

Yes, my favourite statue would have to be the enormous Buddha in the Lotus pond. I love it because it is so peaceful and the swaying bamboo back drop makes me feel like I’m in another place, country or just another world.

Q. If you could buy anything from the Castle, what would you buy?

I’m very attracted to the clear quartz generators, especially the Earth Keeper which is in the Gallery surrounded by the beautiful crystal singing bowls. I’m particularly drawn to it for its beautiful rainbows, energy and size.

Q Do you have a special moment or story about a Crystal Castle visitor?

One customer moment that really touched me was, a lady was visiting us and her son had just passed away. She really wanted the prayer flags that we had hanging up on display; she particularly wanted those flags, so I gave them to her as a gift. She was very thankful.

Q. When did you get your first crystal and what was it?

When I first started working here at the Crystal Castle, it was a small clear quartz cluster, a very pretty piece full of rainbows. I still have it and I love it. I am very drawn to clear quartz.

school holidays can be a blessing...

Wednesday 13 October 2010

The rain did not wash away the spirit of the Crystal Castle during these extremely wet school holidays and all the rainbow umbrellas added yet another touch of colour to the rich green gardens laced with springtime flowers and sparkling crystals.
Free face-painting sessions that happened during school holidays were especially popular with the kids and their faces looked gorgeous as they curiously explored the magic that can be found all around the Crystal Castle. It really is beautiful to watch children (and adults) stand and gaze into the intricacy of a pair of geode amethyst crystals that are sometimes even taller that the little ones!
On the Buddha Walk the 4m high hand-carved statue of Buddha is so impressive that people will sit on the mosaic edge on the pond that surrounds the huge statue and become mesmerised, even children become quite and noticeably peaceful in its presence… and the Gyuto Monk’s visit during the recent school holidays once again infused more beautiful energy into the sacredness of the Crystal Castle—all who came to see the monks got to share in the blessings! And guess what… yep, the rain is still hanging around!
